Peace Building
Once violent conflict has slowed down or come to a halt it is vital to begin the long-term process of re-establishing a harmonious community. The ways in which this can best be achieved is to provide communities with their essential services, encourage reconciliation through promotion of community activities and work on developing the society so that further conflicts can be avoided.
In Sierre Leone Transform Africa has been working in partnership with local organisations to support resettlement activites and reunite those who have been estranged with their families and community. Recreational activities are a fundamental part of this reconciliation process and we have focused on getting people involved in team activities. Another important role that Transform Africa has had is to support forums where community members can come to discuss and address any problems they have, rather than needing to resort to violence.
